Sian Robson’s 13-year-old daughter, Caitlin, had just bought a new beanie from the clothing store called Missguided, and she was surprised by what it said on the label of the beanie, writes The Sun.
“My daughter showed me the label because it was really unusual. There was something we did not expect to see”, Sian explains to The Sun. “It was truly unbelievable.”
On the label in the hat were pretty common washing instructions – followed by this rule: “… or give this to your mom, she’ll wash it.”
“I did not understand why they would do this. I have looked at their website and there it said they were all for “girl power”, she said angrily for The Sun.
Her opinion is that it is a stereotypical image that the mother is the one who takes care of the household tasks. She further explained that she thought Missguided should realize that everyone, men and women, should be encouraged to perform household chores.
“Moreover, there are many children who no longer have parents, so it is completely distasteful to write this “, Sian concludes.
